London Skye Fall 2018
Our gorgeous city of Naperville keeps growing and expanding, especially the newly added Water Street which is home to my husband and my favorite sushi and Mexican restaurants Blue Sushi & Sake Grill and Quiubo! They've also opened a gorgeous rooftop bar, Santo Cielo that has stunning views of all of downtown Naperville. So of course it only makes sense that it is also home to London Skye, a beautiful boutique shop owned by Joellen Elam. I remember walking in and falling in love with every piece in her trendy shop and imagining the different combinations of tops and bottoms with my wardrobe. When I went up to the counter, I met Joellen's smiling face and asked her about her store's name which she told me is a mix of her children’s namesakes as well as connection time she spent living in London, England. London Skye offers a mix of clothing, accessories and gifts for men and women with brands that are sourced both nationally and internationally. I also asked Joellen about the photos of horses that were placed around the store. She told me about her love for horses and that she frequently rides one at a barn close by. My heart of course almost burst as photographing horses and people together has been a HUGE bucket list item of mine for a while! I told this to Joellen and that I'm a local photographer and if she EVER wanted to do a fun stylized shoot to let me know.
Fast forward a few months and I received an email for Joellen asking for just that: an outdoor session with some of her favorite items in the store for Fall and Winter with some models, horses, stables and an open gorgeous field. We ended up having it the day that Naperville received its first snowfall of the season with gale-force winds and rapidly dropping temperatures. But Joellen and the models absolutely braved the wintery elements and everything turned out absolutely stunning and perfect!
