The Big Question: Full Session or Petite Session?
One of the top questions families ask when they’re booking a session with me is what session to go with: Full or Petite Session?
There are a few things to consider:
How many family members will be involved in the session?
How old are any children that will be at the session?
What time of year are you inquiring about?
What location are you hoping to have your session taken?
First off, petite sessions are available on a limited basis only during the fall season. They usually happen on one or two days and first available to previous clients, email subscribers and members of the VIP Facebook group. If you’re not apart of either of those, click the links associated with them to stay up to date.
When you contact me, I always send you a quick questionnaire asking who all will be involved in the session as well as any children’s ages. What this does is helps me prepare for that big question from you about how long your session should be. If you have a few kids who are older than around ten or so, you’ll probably be able to get away with a quick 15 minute petite session. More often than not, you have a couple of toddlers or elementary school-aged kiddos and will start your email off with “my kids are hard to ____” so I’ll suggest the full session. This will allow me enough time to warm up to your littles and capture each one’s unique personality as well as get plenty of combinations of photos with each family member.
Another popular session I get asked about is extended family sessions. These should always be a full session because of the amount of family members involved. I always get plenty of images of the entire group and then work our way down to each family grouping, cousins, siblings, photos with grandparents, etc. These might just be some of my favorite sessions as I get to meet and spend time with your whole family.
Now, as a bonus for anyone booking a full session with Sheena Magnesen Photography, petite sessions are available at any time of year for a flat fee and ten digital images. These special bonus sessions are called ‘Bump Sessions’. Family in town? Bump Session. Expecting a new baby and want a few quick maternity photos? Bump Session. New family pet? Bump Session. And so on.
If you still aren’t sure or would like some more information, just reach out to me and we can schedule a quick call to figure out what type of session will be best for you.
I hope this helps to answer any questions you may have in selecting the type of session best for you.
